Sad that you find them because they are not good turtle food.

I picked up about 30 of those little yellow plastic bottles within a very small area of beach, about 4m2, on the East coast of Cozumel last month. With all the other plastics washed up there we filled our trash bag quickly but I kept these apart to research on line where they came from. I have here 4 different brands of yellow plastic vinegar bottles. Soeli, Constanza, Bellin and Doña Maria. Some of the white little plastic bleach “cloro” bottles too.
Who’s responsible for the dumping and what can be done to stop it?

I have found lot of this yellow and white bottle on the south central coast of Cuba, mixed with other bottles (glass and plastic) mostly from liquor, most common brands are Brugal and Barcelo (caps and relieve printing on the bottle) and all sorts of shoes and sandals and lots of Bambu logs. This two brands are from the Dominican Republic. I recently found some of of the vinegar on the north-eastern most coast of Cuba, but less frequent and not to deep in the shore line.
the pile of garbage extended for several kilometers between entrance of Cienfuegos Bay and the famous Bay of Pigs. the shore line there is a terrace type, and the pile form a line parallel to the water level, separated for about 25 to 30 meters.
I noticed this invasion came after Hurricane Irma and Maria that hit western Caribbean islands last year (2017).
Curious though is that non of this bottles are sold or distributed in Cuba.

I’m in for Keys & find them all the time! Just found another & decided to google it. Thanks for solving the mystery. Container ships dumping trash in the ocean should come with a hefty fine!

They aren’t from ships, they are from Haiti according to a group called 4Ocean.

I just came back from a trip to Mahahual, Mexico, where I saw those bottles spread all over the coast. At least I counted more than 50 in less than 1 km.

I live in the Florida Keys. I get them in bunches. Drives me nuts. I also get a lot of hygiene products like tooth paste and deodorant at the same times as the Soeli bottles.
